Laser Hair Removal FAQs
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target the hair follicle and reduce future hair growth. Because hair grows in different cycles, a series of treatments is generally needed to achieve the best results.
How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on factors such as the treatment area, hair characteristics and individual response to treatment. During your consultation, our team can recommend a treatment schedule based on your needs.
How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?
Treatment time depends on the area being treated. Smaller areas such as the upper lip or underarms generally take less time than larger areas such as the legs or back.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as a series of quick snaps or warmth on the skin. Comfort can vary depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity.
Is laser hair removal suitable for sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin does not necessarily prevent you from having laser hair removal. However, your skin condition, recent sun exposure, skincare products and other individual factors should be considered before treatment. A consultation helps determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
Is laser hair removal suitable for darker skin tones?
Laser hair removal can be performed on a range of skin tones, but the appropriate technology and treatment settings are important. At Revitalize Clinic Spa, treatment is assessed according to your individual skin and hair characteristics.
Should I shave before laser hair removal?
In many cases, shaving is recommended before a laser hair removal appointment because the laser needs to target the hair follicle beneath the skin. Your treatment provider will give you specific preparation instructions for your appointment.
Can I wax between laser hair removal sessions?
Waxing removes the hair from the root, which can interfere with the laser’s ability to target the follicle. If you are undergoing a course of laser hair removal, ask your treatment provider which hair-removal methods are appropriate between sessions.
What should I avoid after laser hair removal?
After treatment, follow the aftercare instructions provided by your treatment provider. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and activities or products that may irritate the treated area immediately following treatment.
How long do laser hair removal results last?
Laser hair removal is intended to provide long-term reduction in unwanted hair. Results vary between individuals, and maintenance treatments may be recommended depending on hair growth and your response to treatment.
Waxing, Threading & Sugaring FAQs
How long does waxing last?
Waxing removes hair from the root, so results generally last longer than shaving. The exact duration varies depending on the individual and the treatment area.
How often should I get waxing?
Many clients schedule waxing every few weeks, depending on their hair growth cycle and personal preference. Your ideal schedule may vary depending on the area being treated.
What is the difference between waxing and sugaring?
Both waxing and sugaring remove hair from the root, but they use different products and techniques. Waxing uses a formulated wax, while sugaring uses a sugar-based paste. Your skin type, treatment area and personal preference can help determine which option is best for you.
Is threading good for eyebrows?
Threading allows precise shaping of the eyebrows and is commonly used for facial hair removal. It can be particularly useful when you want detailed control over the shape of your brows.
What areas can be threaded?
Threading can be used for areas such as the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, sides of the face, forehead and other facial areas.
Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?
Some people with sensitive skin can receive waxing treatments, but sensitivity varies. If your skin is irritated, sunburned or otherwise compromised, treatment may need to be postponed. Let your esthetician know about any skin sensitivities before your appointment.
How should I prepare for a waxing appointment?
Arrive with clean skin and avoid applying heavy lotions or oils immediately before treatment. If you are using skincare products or medications that may increase skin sensitivity, discuss them with your treatment provider before waxing.
Facial & Skin Care FAQs
Which facial is best for my skin?
The right facial depends on your skin type and concerns. Your treatment may be selected based on concerns such as dryness, congestion, acne, uneven skin tone, texture or signs of aging.
How often should I get a facial?
The ideal frequency depends on your skin type, concerns and treatment plan. Some clients benefit from regular monthly treatments, while others may need treatments less frequently.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin treatment that exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin to help improve the appearance of skin texture and overall smoothness.
What is the difference between a facial and microdermabrasion?
A facial can involve cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and other customized steps, while microdermabrasion specifically uses mechanical exfoliation to remove dead surface skin cells. Depending on your skin’s needs, one treatment or a combination may be appropriate.
What is HIFU skin tightening?
HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-surgical treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to target deeper layers of tissue and support skin tightening and firmness.
Can I have a facial if I have sensitive skin?
Many facial treatments can be adjusted according to individual skin sensitivity. Tell your esthetician about any sensitivity, irritation, allergies or current skincare products before your treatment so the appropriate approach can be selected.
